The DSAIE was privileged to be able to give back to the Ronald McDonald House located at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, CA. We had the opportunity to cook and serve lunch to parents and families who were at the hospital that day.

Ronald McDonald House is a wonderful place for tired, stressed parents and families who are dealing with their children’s hospital stays. Some of our kids have had to endure multiple and extended hospital visits, which means parents are living at the hospital, too. It’s so nice to be able to go to the RMH and take a much-needed break.

The volunteers all agreed that it was a terrific experience, and everyone is ready to go back and do it again. Here are some of their impressions in their own words:

“Today was a super fun day! We made lunch and served it to the parents and siblings at the Ronald McDonald house in San Diego. I have been using their many services for years now. It was so nice to be able to give back. We enjoyed it so much everyone agreed to do it again in July. If you would like to donate to our food service when we get the date and menu it will be GREATLY appreciated!!!!” –A

“I also benefited from that very RMH for years, what a wonderful thing to have when you really need the comfort, and place to rest when you are so weary with a sick child…I am forever thankful.” –G

“It was good fun and the people really appreciated a home-cooked meal! We had so many thank-yous! I wish them all well and hope their loved ones recover quickly.” –R

We would love to extend the opportunity to serve and give back to anyone who would like to participate. Keep watching Facebook for the next date, and don’t forget to like us on Facebook so you don’t miss out on the fun!
